MAILBOX

Sorry for the massive delay, but i was aways this last 15 days

SHINING – VI
I’ve been a fan of Shining for a few years now, so as a fan I was expecting this album with some curiosity.
This album has some cool tracks (number 2 is great) but in the other side of the coin it has some elements that in the past were use in a small portion in here are more used like solos and clean vocals in some aspects it works well but in others are completely boring. Even with that its good to see a band trying different things, not THE album but a good one.

NAZXUL – ICONOCLAST
To be honest, the last thing I heard from this Australian band was their first album “Totem” which was a very “respected” album in those days, and this album is for me a kind of return to those days because their kind of atmospheric “keyboard driven” black metal is something I don’t listen that much nowadays., but after hearing an advanced track I ordered this album without thinking too much. It´s a great return and it has some amazing tracks being Oath (Fides Resurrectio) my favorite. Also extra kudus for the layout and for the lyrics.

THE GOLDEN SORES – A PEACEABLE KINGDOM
This cd was a gift from a good friend of mine. I never had heard The golden sores before so I was curious to hear them after seeing the cd cover. So the music touches some aspects of the experiemtal, ambient, noise, drone “scene” without belonging to a specific genre or sound. The album starts very gentle and follows that line without transforming in a extreme or exaggerated combo of noise. An excellent gift and another one with the bloodlust! Rec. stamp. Need to get more info about this label.

ANDRÉ FOISY – AFTER THE PROPHECY
Another generous gift (thanks for this André). I know André from his part on Locrian and the debut under his name his different from the Locrian specter. In the solo album Andre explores Drone soundscapes with the addition of mandolin, violin and acoustic guitar all done in a well balanced way. A really nice debut.

LOCRIAN – VISIBLE / INVISIBLE 3”
The last gift that I received in this package. This Locrian tracks were released some time ago on a split tape with Daleth and now gain new live with this edition. This two tracks are more experimental than the “normal” Locrian works, it stars with a strange sound that goes through the two songs of this released and sometimes it’s accompanied with a guitar that comes out delicately.

AMBER ASYLUM – GARDEN OF LOVE
To be honest it past maybe 5 years since the last time I heard something from Amber Asylum but the name Kris force as always in my mind. Recently I listened to Still point and became addicted again in this project. Garden of Love is a mcd/ep released on Paradigms in a limited edition of 750 and contains four tracks of dark neo classical ambience music, done in a very delicate way.

AMBER ASYLUM – STILL POINT
Brought this along withg “garden of Love” it follow the same line that the ep and the current bibe of the band. A good record with some good songs “Outer dark” is a fine example of one.

WRAITHS – PLAGUEBEARER
Another release from Paradigms Recordings that I heard some time ago and enjoyed a lot. Plaguebearer is the first album from Wraiths and explores some aspects of music that I’m discovering in the last months. In this release Wraiths sounds goes from ritualistic moments, drone, harsh and bleak electronics layers. An album that I’m still exploring and in each careful listen I take I tend to find some detail that I have not notice before.

THE WOUNDED KINGS - EMBRACE OF THE NARROW HOUSE
Debut from this British band, for me this is a mixture of old candlemass with some electric wizard touches and Paul Chain touches. A nice album to listen. I hope they continue to do this kind of sound in the future.

JAMES PLOTKIN / TIM WYSKIDA – 8 IMPROVISATIONS
I´ve heard this some years ago back when it was released, but never thought I could get a copy and in those days I was more into this because I was discovering some khanate related projects / bands. Has the name simply says what this album is. We have more than an hour of music that goes from Ambient soundscapes , drone to almost electric jazz exploration.

URFAUST – DER EINSIEDLER
Another ep from Urfaust, this time just two songs, the first one is a very atmospheric (mainly because the keyboard line) the second one in the urfaust way, slow and hypnotic. A new full length is planned for early 2010 on Ván records.

L´ACEPHALE – STAHLHARTES GEHÄUSE
I was lucky enough to get this album some time ago, and it hooked me from the first time I heard it, but before I got the actual album I could never understand the lyrics and the reason of the Romanian and Estonian influences on the music. Now this are changed because I got the physical edition and I enjoy this album even most. The way everything is presented, so detailed and the thought gives this band a “maturity” that is rare nowadays. I hope some of you pick this up. One of the best album I heard this year. Thanks Tim for this.

LAUDANUM – THE CORONATION
In the album it has a sticker that say. “Corrosive Doom Nihilism & Industrial Noise Wasteland/ Ambient Texture & punishing Sludge from Oakland California”. Well I would say that this description says it all. The Coronation is a bit different from the Aphoteker album, but this band knew how to grow and now have an “unique” sound attached to them, the noisy harsh intro of the songs versus the punishing doom /sludge they deliver is great, again one of the album of the year for me.

BLACK BONED ANGEL – BLISS & VOID INSEPARABLE.
Although I have heard black boned angel for some time now this was the first album from them I ever bought. Bliss & Void Inseparable is an album composed by a 60m single song. First thing I can say about this album is this is not a easy album to get in, some would say that is monotonous / extreme, but I don’t see it in that way. This is a good piece of drone done in a very interesting way, you can hear melody, the surrounding heaviness in, the transforming atmosphere, basically everything drone represents (at least to me) a good album that requires a relax listening. Extra kudos for the "Transcendence can only be reached at maximum volume. “Sentence that fills one panel of the cardbox.

MORBOSIDAD – PROFANA DE LA CRUZ NAZARENO
Last but not least the last album from this American band. I read in a review somewhere ( don’t remember now, sorry! ) about this album and I line stuck in my mind it was “bestial warlike sonic experience” and this sentenced really applies to what Morbosidad does this is uncompromised death/ black metal in the vein of Blasphemy and old Beherit with a great feeling, one of the bands I’m ashamed to only discover it some months ago.

P.S. eclectic is the word that comes to my mind when looking to this picture.
